Training

Twice a year we offer a two day course in working with lived experience and vulnerable groups.

We also deliver training on applied theatre courses in drama schools and universities, get in touch to find out more.

Over the coming months we will be launching a writing programme in memory of our co-founder Philip Osment. To be the first to know subscribe to out newsletter at the bottom of the page.

An Introduction to Playing ON

Over two days you will experience an immersive training experience. This will be delivered by a team including Jim Pope, our Artistic Director, one of our associate artists and pastoral support.

Small groups, pf up to 15 people, mean there is time for discussion and reflection.

You will leave understanding:

  • our underpinning principles when working with vulnerable groups

  • how to create safe environments for sharing lived experience

  • ways of embedding meaningful coproduction into your drama practice

  • making fictional work from real lived experience

Every training participant will receive a hard copy handbook to take away.

We have a tiered fee system for the training:

Organisations

  • for practitioners in organisations wishing to up-skill, this could include teachers in PRUs, Youth Workers, peer mentors in mental health and criminal justice settings

  • £250, two spaces for £400

Freelancers

  • for freelance practitioners looking to diversify their practice and engage in professional development. You might be used to working in youth drama settings and want to up-skill in working with more vulnerable and at risk groups.

  • £100

Underrepresented Freelancers

We are committed to increasing diversity in the sector and ensure 5 subsidised places at each training event. In addition to subsidising the course cost we cover travel and refreshment. Please contact rhian@playingon.org.uk for more information.
